Hong Kong's press freedom has been facing huge challenge since handover - outspoken radio hosts were sacked, a renowned journalist was attacked, and more recently, Ming Pao's Deputy Chief Editor was fired out of the blue. All of these events stirred up attention from the general public on the freedom of press. Across the Zhujiang River Estuary, Macau is also facing similar, if not worse, situations. How is new media countering the huge pressure from the government and providing neutral news reports to people in Macau? In this Human Rights Friday talk, we have invited two guest speakers to talk about the shrinking space of press freedom in the twin cities.
