ArtisTree Selects: Moving Pieces – Open Rehearsals and Workshops

Be moved by over 20 powerful performances that transcend language, generations and culture. Moving Pieces is a collection of monumental dance productions from the most the influential and inspiring artists of our time. Presented from 8 August to 28 September 2019, the series will include behind the scenes access to lunchtime open rehearsals and weekend dance workshops. 

1. Open Rehearsal Series – Panta Rei Danseteater

Curious about how dancers prepare for a performance? Move your gaze behind the scenes with Panta Rei Danseteater’s Open Rehearsal Series, featuring special appearances by local companies Passoverdance and Unlock Dancing Plaza.

2. Watch Dance Class – National Dance Company Wales

Join our Watch Dance Class by National Dance Company Wales, where you can observe, photograph, record or sketch the dancers as they get ready for a show. Perfect for dance students, artists, photographers and anyone who is interested in peeking behind the curtain.

Admission: Free
Duration: Approximately 60 minutes
Age limit: For ages 10 and above


3. Workshops for kids and families

With exclusive workshops, you don’t need to be a professional to dance. Panta Rei Danseteater National Dance Company Wales and Yoann Bourgeois will be hosting fun workshops for kids and families, and invite you to be a part of the performance.

- Panta Rei Danseteater Workshop (For kids and families) | 3pm, 25 August (Sunday) | 60 minutes | For ages six or above
- National Dance Company Workshop (For kids) | 3pm, 7 September (Saturday) |60 minutes | For ages six or above
- Yoann Bourgeois (For kids and families) | 2-3pm, 22 September (Sunday) |60 minutes | For ages 10 or above
- Yoann Bourgeois (For kids and families) | 4-5pm, 22 September (Sunday) |60 minutes | For ages 10 or above

4. Workshops for professionals 

Explore the distinctive works and unique dance styles of Panta Rei Danseteater from Norway, National Dance Company Wales, and renowned French choreographer Yoann Bourgeois through the three dance workshops of Moving Pieces. Professional dancers of all ages who possess relevant academic or professional training are preferred, but those with equivalent experience in contemporary dance are also welcomed.
