Anxiety remains the most common psychiatric disorder among children and adolescents. Despite its prevalence, however, anxiety receives less attention than many other disorders that occur in this age group. This talk will focus on research relating to the classification, etiology and course of anxiety disorders as well as progress toward developing more effective treatment approaches. Empirical research will be presented along with case studies illustrating the use of established as well as more recent and innovative therapeutic strategies.
