Synopsis
In a farewell ceremony for a friend of the family, Keening Womn – Cotton (Michelle WAI) acts abnormally because of Ling (Mitsu Hana). Her body and her consciousness are separating. Different memories, consciousnesses, identities and actions are lingering inside Cotton, which collaborate the unusual relationship between herself, her lame boyfriend (Ryan LAU) and her psychiatrist (LEUNG Wing Chung).

There is the one body, in which Cotton and Spirit (Ling) connect with each other spiritually and which leads them wandering the “Luo Feng Mountain”. There is water flowing downstream, which constitutes different scenes and imageries, delving into the consciousness. It presents something that is beyond substance. It returns them to the nature and begins an indescribable journey of Chinese ink painting. Cotton and Ling are opening a door, into a situation that entering another world — The Bardo.

Director Bio
Rita HUI is a video artist and director, who currently teaches at the School of Creative Media, City University of Hong Kong. For over ten years, she has explored different narrative possibilities and continues to experiment with expressions outside conventional visual and narrative language. Her first work, Ah Ming, gained wide attention and won the Distinguished Award at the Hong Kong Independent Short Film & Video Award in 1996. In 1998 her works She Makes Me Wanna to Die and Invisible City (Wall) won the Silver Awards in Drama and Others categories respectively at the Hong Kong Independent Short Film & Video Award.HUI’s Alice in Wonderland was shown in Hong Kong Arts Centre at a programme called Independent Yours. Her first work in theatre was “Tango of Water Sleeves and Beautiful” project and her first video work was Chionanthus Retusus. HUI’s first set-up video installation “XX” screened in Macau’s Old Ladies’ House Art Space at “Wo....man - Arte no Feminino?Feminine Art”. In 2004, she completed her short film IdoLetHerMyHeadHave, she later produced Red Riding Hood (2005) and RED (2006).

In 2009, she finished her first feature, Dead Slowly, with Hong Kong Arts Development Council funding and it was shown in the New Current Section of the 14th Busan International Film Festival and Hong Kong Asian Independent Film Festival in 2009. Her second feature film, Keening Woman, was completed in 2013.
