Fuji Rock a "harmonious coexistence of nature and music" was founded at Tenpin mountain ski field at the foot of Mt. Fuji in the summer of 1997. The venue shifted to the Naeba ski field in 1999 and has remained there ever since, with 100,000-150,000 festival goers in attendance making it the largest outdoor music event in the country.

Set amidst a pristine mountain forest in one of Japan’s biggest ski resorts, this year the festival celebrates its 20th anniversary, and audiences will rock out to the sounds of headline international bands including the likes of Red Hot Chili Peppers, Beck, Sigur Rós, Disclosure, Babymetal, James Blake and more, plus the best of the Japanese music scene. Featuring a variety of stages, from the “Green Stage”, with its huge production and 35,000 capacity, through to the “Red Marquee”, a 5,000 capacity indoor stage with newcomers rocking through the daytime and DJs and electronic music all night long. Be sure to explore the more secluded areas of the festival; you may come across an impromptu gig by a great Japanese band tucked away in the forest and there’s a natural hot spring spa where you can relieve your dance weary limbs.

The festival also features fantastic food at a great price, no queues to buy beer, all night hot spring baths, an incredibly friendly crowd, art, amusement attractions and films from all over the world - there is so much more to Fuji Rock than just the music. The festival is also proud of its various environmental conservation activities with the festival goers, including the separation of rubbish and recycling through a "Zero Rubbish" initiative and is highly rated by the both domestic and international communities as the cleanest festival in the world!
