More Details

Recent challenges to long-standing beliefs about Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) have led to a closer scrutiny of its screening, assessment and diagnosis (e.g., Siegel, 2018, “The Politics of Autism”). This talk will focus on the professional’s role in screening, evaluating and diagnosing ASD. Participants will learn the following:

  • ASD diagnostic criteria
  • Approaches to screen for ASD
  • The characteristics of the “gold standard” ASD assessment
  • Appropriate recommendations when ASD is diagnosed

This talk provides valuable and useful information for psychologists, counsellors, learning support teachers and psychiatrists as well as those in training for these professions.
