TEDxWanChai is one of the most established independently organized TED or TEDx events in Hong Kong. We are now going into our 7th year of presenting a host of thought provoking speakers whose work in Hong Kong and around the world makes a positive and transformative impact on the lives of others. We are part of a Pan-Asia network of over 300 regional independently-organized TED conferences, which include greater China, Japan, Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, and Australia and co-curate across regional platforms.\n
WanChai is part of the global story. Chinese fishermen and British seafarers first inaugurated WanChai as a doorway to Asia. Today, WanChai is a gateway back to the world. The district is home to a collection of foreign cultural institutions and a thriving local arts scene. Industry leaders drive envelope-moving conversations in media, fashion, art, and investments at annual harbour-front events.\n
Established in 2012, TEDxWanChai imbues the progressive spirit found in the district. We are a platform that inspires people to change their lives, their futures and ultimately their world. Think of us as a feast for hungry, insatiable minds. We don’t just stand still and wait for ideas to come. We ask the questions that people are not asking and we chase them with a fierce appetite of intellectual curiosity that pushes the boundaries of conventional thinking.\n
We engage thought leaders who communicate extraordinarily complex ideas with elegant finesse. Many are notable recognised industry leaders and subject matter experts, and others represent the next generation of voices who shed light on unconventional ways of thinking outside the box and challenging the status quo. Change is scary and yet there is an urgency for a call to action. We push conversations forward in a way that is sometimes uncomfortable, yet that ultimately gestures in the direction of a future and a community we want to be a part of creating.
