Presented by Hong Kong Art Gallery Association

Event Closed

More Details

Hong Kong Art Gallery Association (HKAGA) is pleased to announce its biggest annual showcase of Hong Kong art galleries with an "art and wine walk". With 30 galleries opening late into the evening, The Gallery Walk will bring a festival atmosphere to Hong Kong streets from Central to Sai Ying Pun! Art exhibitions, live music, wine tasting and performances by HK Ballet will create a must-see spectacle along the route. Proceeds from ticket sales will go to supporting three local charities with a focus on art and community programmes: The Women’s Foundation, Sovereign Art Foundation and HKAGA’s Artist Residency Abroad Funding Scheme (ARAFS) and education programmes.

Supported Charities:

The Women’s Foundation
The Women's Foundation is dedicated to improving the lives of women and girls in Hong Kong. The Foundation conducts research, runs innovative and impactful community programmes, and engages in education and advocacy in the pursuit of three main goals; Challenging gender stereotypes, empowering women in poverty to achieve a better quality of life and growing the number of women in decision-making and leadership positions.

Sovereign Art Foundation
The Sovereign Art Foundation (SAF) was established in 2003 with a twin focus: To recognise the growing wealth of contemporary art talent in Asia and to bring the proven benefits of expressive arts to underprivileged children. Money raised for the Foundation will be used to support charitable projects across Asia.

Artist Residency Abroad Funding Scheme
Through the Artist Residency Abroad Funding Scheme, HKAGA is committed to encouraging contemporary artistic practice through overseas experiences for Hong Kong artists. The scheme provides assisted funding for artists seeking their own artist residency programs abroad. The programme allows artists to gain a wider cultural understanding, pursue higher expertise and develop broader practices in their area of art. It also provides opportunities for interaction with the international art community and encourages artists to bring these experiences back to Hong Kong.

Founded in 2012, the Hong Kong Art Gallery Association is a member-based non-profit organisation of established art galleries in Hong Kong. With over 50 art galleries as members, the mission of HKAGA is to advance the Hong Kong art gallery community by providing one voice to its members, reaching out to the local and international art community, and helping deepen market knowledge and best practices among members. With funding and support from the Hong Kong government’s cultural departments, HKAGA provides a single point of contact for the art gallery community in Hong Kong and is the chief advocate for development of the local art community.
