Guangdong Science Center

Located in the west of Guangzhou University Town in Guangdong Province, Guangdong Science Center (GDSC) is one of the largest science education base in the world, with a land area of 450,000sqm and a building floor area of 137,500sqm. The completion of GDSC represents an impressive example of unique architecture, with the applications of various new building technologies, such as the innovative radial-centripetal layout, as well as various energy-efficient and pollutant emission reduction measures including solar energy, energy-efficient air conditioning system and natural ventilation. GDSC has won many awards as an example of green building in China and became a landmark of Guangzhou. The center combines popular science education concepts and demonstration models with a center for conferences and academic exchange. The center vividly exhibits the history of science and technology along with current and future developments to audiences in an interactive and interesting way, using a variety of high technology and education methods. Meanwhile, it provides a first class venue and services for national and international academic exchange conferences. GDSC aims at elevating scientific literacy of the general public. It mainly serves as a new educational base for science dissemination, a center for international academic exchange, and a tourist attraction for leisure.
