When Felix meets Sharda 
High Tea + Dramatic Readings = Lots of Laughs 
Author Felix Cheong and Actress Sharda Harrison 
Ham and Spice it up as they bring to life insightful bite size observations of Singapore taken from Felix Cheong’s trilogy of stories from “Singapore Siu Dai Part 1-111”. Chef Chris Choo creates dishes inspired by some of these stories, for example, what cuisine do you get when you combine Hakka and Cantonese influences in cooking? Come enjoy “Hakkanese” dishes, have a go at our wok and learn about the skills needed to make food that can only be described as “Beautiful lah”. Join us for an afternoon of delights with special guest appearance by Dr. Kirpal Singh (who has a surprise up his sleeve). We promise you will have a good time!


Who is Felix?

Felix Cheong is the author of 11 books, including four volumes of poetry and a collection of short stories, Vanishing Point, which was longlisted for the prestigious Frank O’Connor Award. His latest, Singapore Siu Dai, is a trilogy of flash fiction stories satirising life, politics and mannerisms of the Lion City. Conferred the Young Artist of the Year for Literature in 2000 by the National Arts Council, he was named by Readers Digest as the 29th Most Trusted Singaporean in 2010. Cheong has been invited to read at writers’ festivals all over the world: Edinburgh, West Cork, Austin, Sydney, Brisbane, Christchurch, Kuala Lumpur, Ubud and Hong Kong. Cheong, who holds a masters in creative writing from the University of Queensland, is currently an adjunct lecturer with Murdoch University, University of Newcastle and LASALLE College of the Arts.

 


Who is Sharda? 

Sharda Harrison is a Singapore theatre performer and arts educator. She graduated with a B.A (hons) in Acting from Lasalle College of the Arts in 2009. Since then she has performed in a spectrum of theatre shows in Singapore as well as internationally. Sharda founded Pink Gajah Theatre in 2013. She uses pink gajah as a platform to showcase arts focused on social and environmental activism. Her education wing focuses on bringing movement, drama and balance to children, teenagers and adults.


Who is Kirpal Singh?

Kirpal Singh is an internationally acclaimed writer and poet. For over 20 years he taught Literature at the National University of Singapore and at the Nanyang Technological University, before joining the Singapore Management University where he taught Creative Thinking. Kirpal is the author of ‘Thinking Hats and Coloured Turbans: Creativity across cultures.’ He is a keenly sought-after writer and has appeared at numerous arts/literary festivals around the world. Currently, he is working on a new book of poems, Nestled Dreams.

 


Who is Chef Chris Choo?

Chris Choo is the multi-talented Chef behind making Relish.Sg’s culinary fantasies come true. International cuisine, authentic tastes, precious family recipes, he is equally comfortable making bread, baking cakes and stirring the perfect roux. In this High tea adventure he applies his real kung fu skills to manoevering the Wok on-site to give a live creation of “Hakkanese” dishes to be served with family classics like dong po pork and 8 Treasures claypot bubbling delight.
